Personal Statement
I first found a love for baseball when I was seven years old. I wanted to try it, and I have enjoyed myself ever since. My parents have always been a large influence on me, and what I want to pursue to just athletically, but academically also. Not only did they introduce me to the game, but they also pushed me hard in school every day, and always told me to give my maximum effort with everything I do. Playing baseball for all of these years taught me that I can push myself father than I ever thought possible, but still have fun playing. This maximum effort allowed me to be the starting catcher on my school’s varsity team, the captain in my junior year, and also a starter on my local travel team for two years. I was awarded all-Division honors my freshman year for my play.
As for the academic side, I don’t have a preference on size, but would like to be in a warm climate. I am looking for a very competitive academic school, and I am looking to pursue biomedical engineering in the future. I am currently in line, and hope to become, the valedictorian of my class. Through my education, I have developed great leadership skills, cooperation, and creativity, especially when it comes to team problems and chemistry. I am the first to the field, and stay behind to get that last throw-down or rep at the tee, because I know that work will pay off later down the road. Last year, right in the middle of the season, in the span of two weeks, I lost my grandfather and my dog, two of the biggest parts of me. I refused to let myself get down. I lost myself in my work and honing my skills, and ended my season very well, falling a little short of the regional championships. Baseball has taught me a lot about myself, and for that, I am forever grateful.
