Personal Statement
Selected Perfect Game 2015 Pre-Season Underclass ALL-AMERICAN, Honorable Mention; 2015 All-Conference, First Team; Varsity MVP of the Week, twice selected; September 2014 - Perfect Game Ranking - #2 Catcher (2016) in the State of Maryland.
For the third year, I am the starting Varsity catcher and my team's defensive anchor. A three-year letter-winner, All-Conference, First Team selectee, and 2013 Coaches Award recipient with exceptional receiving skills, my proven skills are a tireless and driving force behind the plate. My off-season work is paying off with in-game pop-time of 1.85-1.95, shutting down opponents' running game. Due to my experience and continuous work with the pitching staff, I have confidently called every game for the past 3 years with every team: Varsity, travel, and showcase. Offensively, adjustments made in the off-season have improved my bat speed and power, resulting in solid contact and quality at-bats. I will play summer showcase/travel ball with Carson Carroll's Stars Baseball (U17 Red) in Northern Virginia ([email protected]), where I will continue to develop and learn from every coach at every practice and game. Throughout the year, I work two-three days a week with former MiLB catcher Tommy Johnson to improve my skills, and continue to enhance my strength and conditioning through an individually designed Eric Cressey program. I also work with Jack Ferrick every week to improve my catching mechanics and footwork.
Academically, I attend a rigorous private liberal arts high school and my unweighted CORE GPA is 3.4/4.0. My first ACT composite score is 30.
I will add significant value to a competitive college team through proven, confident leadership behind the plate and an unwavering determination to adjust, improve and win. My future goals include playing baseball at the highest level possible, and giving back to my community through public service.
