Personal Statement
Hi my name is Joey LaCroix, I am currently a sophomore and attend Tahanto Regional High School in Boylston, MA. I am 5’10” and 145 LBS. My primary position is short stop and my secondary position is 2nd base.
I was born on May 15, 2000. I come from a small town and small school with only 65 classmates in my 2018 graduating class, but this has never stopped me from dreaming big. I have been playing baseball since the age of 4. Baseball is my true passion and I am good at it. My baseball journey has taken me from winning districts in little league (first time Boylston/West Boylston ever won) to now winning the district in High School (last time was 1993), and many victories and defeats in between. Baseball is the greatest thing that I have ever been involved in, it has taught me discipline, sportsmanship, patience, perseverance, and most importantly true friendships.
My freshman year I started batting in the 9 hole, in only a few games I was moved to the 2 hole where I stayed for the rest of the season. I was the starter at 2nd base and eventually moved over to short stop, this is the position that feels like home to me. Now as a sophomore I am batting leadoff and have played every inning of every game either at short or relief pitching.
Besides town and high school baseball I have been involved with AAU club teams since the age of 9, always playing up a level. This year will be my 8th season playing Club. Currently I am on the U17 showcase travel team for Triple Play Baseball club. I have been told by many of my coaches that I have pure baseball skills and I am very coachable. I am very respectful of my coaches, teammates and the officials, this is very important to me as a leader.
What I am looking for in a college is to be able to play at my highest level of baseball and a school with a communications/sports media program. I am flexible with the size of the school, as I am very comfortable in a small school setting, but also excited to step outside of my comfort zone.
Thank you for taking time to read my personal statement, I look forward to my next chapter, and meeting my future college coach and teammates!
