Personal Statement

I’m a junior (class of 2024) at Somerville High School with a goal of playing baseball in college. I am the captain of both my high school baseball and basketball teams, and I also play for Apex Baseball Academy, a new program in the Boston area. I play LHP, OF, and 1B. I’m currently a starter for both teams, and I bat in the heart of the order for both (anywhere from 2 to 5 normally). I am also a very good student. I maintain a 4.84 GPA, I scored a 1550 on the SAT, and a 35 on the ACT.

I’ve loved baseball for as long as I’ve been alive, and I can't imagine that I will ever stop loving it! I love how detailed and precise the game is, while also wild and unpredictable. My hope for college is that I can continue to play the game I love and have fun with it! That being said, I know that playing in college at any level is no joke, but working hard is natural for me and I’m always driven to be the best player I can be.

Although baseball is an extremely important aspect of who I am, it is not everything, and I want to go to a college where I can reach my full potential off of the field. I’m a very good student (all As and A+s, 6 APs so far, and ranked #1 in the class of over 300 students) so I’m definitely looking to go to a highly selective college academically, but my priority is finding a school that is a good fit for me.  I don’t know exactly what major I want to study in college, but it will probably be something related to science, medicine, technology, engineering or design. I am interested in many different things, and I realize I have a lot to learn,  so I’m keeping an open mind at the moment.  Whatever I end up choosing, I want to make a positive impact on the world.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
