Personal Statement
I am looking for a Christian school, or a team with Christian values and expectations.
Here are some things about me, I hope you enjoy.
Baseball is what I want to and will do for the rest of my life, recruiting me would be one of the best decisions you have made because nobody shares the same love and appreciation for the game that I do.
I believe I possess the rawest talent that you will recruit. I started when I was 10. When my talent is refined there is no limit. Any coach that is willing to give me an opportunity will not regret that decision.
I have loved baseball since the first day of practice, which was in the spring of 2009 when I was 9 years old. Until I got into High School, I did not think about baseball in college, I though about going straight to the big leagues. My brother and I would play in the backyard day and night until we were called in by my Grandmother. And the next day consisted of the same thing.
The one thing that will most definitely separate me from other recruits is my rawness and my burning passion to get better. Nothing lights my eyes up more than that first day of practice after a long winter. It is not possible to explain the feeling I get when I lace up My cleats and do the very thing I love.
In a college, I look for a 4 year D1 or high-level D2 program that will push me past my limits. This will only help me get better as a person.
The school that chooses me will not regret that decision. I personally feel that losing is a part of baseball only if you let it be. My goal is to push my team past their limits and comfort zone in order to ensure we are ready for every single game mentally, physically, and emotionally.
Thank you for reading this, I hope you enjoy my profile.
Here is a professional-level scouting report by Philadelphia Phillies Scout, Keith Stubbs.
Damond Nixon-(Corner Infielder) Nixon is 2016 graduate from Arch Bishop Curley HS. 6’2”, 200lbs.B/S, T/R Nixon is tall, athletic with strong frame. Nixon is a switch hitter. Better hitter from the left side. Nixon has a wide, open stance. Good set-up and ready to hit. Good bat speed through the zone. Good trigger with quick hand speed. Tends to over swing when in hurry to hit, causing a loopy swing. Needs to work on hip turn and weight transfer more. Nixon will hit for power with future growth and development. Good instincts on the base path. Needs to continue to work on improving running ability. 7.43 in 60 yard run on pro-day. 4.26 L/S, 4.29 R/S on the bunt. First step quickness needs improvement. Arm strength needs work but pretty accurate and playable. Nixon can play several positions. Better suited for the corners. Fielding ability and instincts are average. Jumps on ball. Shows range and footwork around the bag. Quick soft playable hands. Good player to watch for 2015-16 HS season!
