Personal Statement
My name is Anthony Woodard, I am a senior at Muskegon Catholic Central High School. My goal after high school is to attend a college that has high expectations for both academics and baseball. I would be a great asset to your baseball program for many reasons. First of all, I was motivated at a very young age to strive for greatness, both on and off the field. This work ethic has stayed with me as I finish out my junior year of high school. Being in the top 10 ten of my class academically and a member of NHS are just two examples of my desire to succeed. I have also loved the game of baseball since the age of 5. From this early age I was a leader, which made shortstop the spot for me. Many of my coaches have commended me for my knowledge and understanding of the game by being prepared for any situation that may occur. Another attribute I would bring to your team is my desire to win. The coaches throughout my high school career have instilled this trait in me. As a freshman, I was part of Muskegon Catholic's baseball team that made their first ever appearance in the State Semi Finals. Last season I led our team to a 29-2 record, and as a sophomore i started every game of the season at shortstop leading our team to a 27-2 record. I also started a majority of the games at safety for our 2013 State Championship football team.
What sets me apart from other recruits is my consistency. Whether it is in the classroom, on the field, or in the weight room I give 100%. I utilize the feedback my coaches give me to become a better player. Being a good teammate is also an important part of the game. Being a small school, our athletic teams are not very deep. One bad decision on or off the field could potentially ruin our chances at a state title, so I am very aware of the importance of my role on the team. As a leader of the team it is my job to make sure our team is in the best position to win. In the future, I look forward to applying all of these skills at the collegiate level.
