Personal Statement
Making it to the Regional Championship my first year on the Varsity baseball team is my most memorable moment of my high school career. The feeling of a group of guys coming together to try and accomplish something that the program has not been able to do, was always something I dreamed of. Although all the stars had aligned to get my team to that point in our season, my team and I came up just short, losing by one run and sending us home heartbroken in the Regional Final game. Although this seems like an odd "favorite memory" of my high school career thus far, and coming up short usually (well, really never) is fun, it taught me a lot about team work and how every second of hard work we put in on our own time in the off season, and into our mentality of the game matters. The truth is, the first game of regional's I under performed to my standards and was as angry with myself as I had ever been throughout my baseball career. As the game went on I prayed my season would not end on such a sour note, and luckily for me I was given another chance to redeem my abilities to myself, and to my teammates, in the Regional finals game.
The next game, I came out with a whole new mentality and approach to the game, and had one of the best games of my season. Despite the efforts of my teammates and I, we came up one run short when it was all said and done. Although it was heartbreaking, it was also a growing moment in my career. Throughout the tough first game my teammates kept picking me up because they knew as well as I did that we needed all 9 guys on the field connected as one, and that's just what we managed to do during both games, despite the hardships faced in game one. That day may not have ended the way we wanted it to, but the brotherhood that we all have will never be lost, and we left it all on the field.
