Personal Statement
My name is Dalton Locklear and I am 6'0'' and weigh 170 pounds. I have been playing baseball my entire life love nothing more than competing on the diamond. I'm primarily a left handed pitcher and enjoy managing the game from the mound. I've always had good control of my fastball and curve. But when I realized I couldn't overpower every hitter, I started working on location and hitting my spots. When not on the mound, my home is first base. However, I've played enough right field that I embrace the opportunity when called upon.
I feel that after playing multiple positions, I have become a more valuable player and teammate.
I am extremely motivated to play baseball in college. I struggled in the classroom my first couple years of high school, but am working hard to overcome the GPA damage. My teachers and coaches recognize the effort and have been very supportive through the process. I have the physical attributes to play at a higher level and possibly compete at the Division I level. I also realize there is excellent baseball to be played at all collegiate levels and am certain there's a team that I could contribute to. I'm looking for an opportunity to continue my development under experienced and knowledgeable coaches, while playing at a high level of competitive baseball.
Beyond the diamond, I realize the importance of team and representation. I will continue to conduct myself with honor and respect on and off the field, in a way that positively reflects my family, team, coaches and the school I attend. I appreciate your time for reading my personal statement. Good luck in the upcoming baseball season.
