Personal Statement
Since day one baseball has been at the center of my life. As a kid I looked up to the local baseball players who played for the Saint Paul Saints Independent team and the Golden Gophers. I went to all of their summer camps and got to know the players. I went to all of the Saints games with my dad, and one day the bullpen catcher asked me if I wanted to come down and be the bat boy for the day. As an eight year old this was a dream come true. I worked as the bat boy without pay for four years and eventually it turned into a job. I am now the head bat boy for the Saints and I am in charge of the younger kids who come and volunteer every day.
I go to a large diverse public school in Saint Paul, Minnesota, where I have the opportunity to get to know many different types of people and take challenging classes. I take both IB and AP classes and I enjoy the challenge. I have always done well in school except for the beginning of tenth grade when my parents got divorced and I had pneumonia at the same time. I missed a lot of school, but over the year I managed to improve my grades and by the time I got to the fourth quarter I had all As and Bs. My Junior year I really started to figure out how to balance school and life and I managed to finish the year with all A's while staying in accelerated classes.
I play baseball for both my high school team and Great Lakes Baseball Academy. Baseball to me is part of my life and has always held a special place in my heart. When I play I am completely relaxed and the most natural place for me to be is on the field. I want to do the best that I possibly can both academically and athletically, and I look forward to continuing my baseball career into college.
