Personal Statement

My name is Danier(Daniel) Wuxihong. I am an international student from China currently attending Cotter High School in Minnesota. Baseball is always a passion of mine, even though I came from a country with little to no popularity. Because of this passion of mine, I came to America to develop my baseball skill as well as academics.

I have a competitive mindset to set high standard on both sides of academic and baseball. Off the field, I love to learn everything that I could get my hands on. I have a GPA of 3.8, also a member of the National Honor Society. English is not my first language, nor is my second language. Therefore, by living in the US, learning and competing with English speakers, I have learned so much in terms of overcoming the difficulties, and I will convert that mentality into the game of baseball. I am confident that I could be continually be succeeding at the most competitive level, and to continually develop as a human being, and learn to be a leader in anything I do.

  • 3/20/17- 6-foot-1, 170-pound right-handed hitting outfielder. International student currently attending Winona Cotter. 7.16 runner. Shows hitting ability, simple actions, bat stays long and through zone, quick to contact with above avg. bat speed, uses whole field with consistent hard contact, 94 mph exit velocity. Plays fast in outfield, works through ball, covers ground, clean compact arm action, online throws with accuracy to target, 85 mph arm strength from outfield. 78 mph arm strength at shortstop, solid actions at short, plays with quickness, fields underneath occasionally, solid accuracy to bag.
  • Camp/Event
  • PBR MN Fall Review
  • 10/23/16 to 10/23/16
  • (Ranked 9th at OF) 10/24/16- 6-foot-1, 170-pound right-handed hitting outfielder. Interesting 2018 prospect. 7.15 runner. Slight double tap trigger, short to contact, consistently squares baseball with hard contact to middle of field, uses hands in swing and incorporates lower half, 85 mph exit velocity. Fundamentally sound on defense, reads hops well, plays through ball, long clean arm action, throws have carry and accuracy to target, 82 mph arm from outfield. Good angles to baseball in infield, soft glove, tends to play flat-footed occasionally, easier actions, above avg. accuracy to bag, 73 mph arm strength across diamond.
  • Camp/Event
  • 5/17/2015: Under Armour Baseball Factory College PREP Program
  • Official Scouting Report: Daniel is a lean, lanky OF that will graduate in 2018 with a promising future on the diamond. Defensive grades in the OF are solid as he displays smooth / fluid actions. He utilizes his feet well in taking proper routes / angles in tracking down balls, plays through ground balls aggressively, and plays with a lot of energy. Defensive grade will continue to improve as he works to get behind balls more to play through with momentum to his target and continues to increase foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a squared setup with balance and shows an aggressive approach. Hands are loose and aggressive working through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact, mainly to the pull side as he works to stay inside the ball, utilizing middle of field well. Power numbers will continue to improve as works to use his lower half more efficiently. With 3 years to further develop, Daniel has a lot of potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities as he continues to improve.
  • Camp/Event
  • 2010 CBA-MLB China Youth Baseball Camp
  • This was an event held by China Baseball Association and Major League Baseball. Majority of the participant were high school students. I was the youngest participant among those 60 elite players throughout the country of China. Event only opened for players who are invited. Xu “Itchy” Guiyuan, who is currently the only Chinese player signed with the MLB team, was also invited to the camp.
