Personal Statement
I am a upcoming senior at Pearl High School in Pearl, Mississippi. As a junior, I was the starting varsity shortstop on team that started eight senior starters a game a in the state, we finished with a 18-13 record but finished 8-1 in district play while earning District Champions and first round bye in the playoffs, we went on to sweep Neshoba Central and lost out to eventual 5A champion New Hope. I batted in the # 2 hole all season batting .395 with 21 RBIs and 27 of 28 stolen bases with a fielding 95.83%. I received several team and region awards following my season, Team Defensive Player of the Year, Team Most Valuable Player of the Year, All-District 5A region team and District 5A region Player of the Year. I was also named to the All- Metro team. I want to play college baseball and want to play in a ideal situation for me, I have been a life-long shortstop and would like to go to program with a history of developing middle infield players. I am undecided on a major that I would like to pursue in college but by my senior season I should have a plan or a idea in what I would like to study.
My goal is to chase this dream of playing baseball at the next level and I have done everything in my power to make myself ready for that opportunity by working of my drill work several times a week hitting (cage and open field) fielding ground balls, long tossing and speed drills. I have also worked hard this off season to conform myself into the complete baseball player I need to be, my evening workouts have been geared to more time in weight room to get bigger, faster and stronger. Since summer ball has begun have increased my bench press, squat and my 60 time.
If you choose me as player for your team, I promise to work hard and get better I what I love to do everyday. I am a driven person - I want this out of my life, I hope you offer me a chance to that.
Sincerely,
Andrew Ryals
