Personal Statement
Dear Coaches,
In addition to having a great baseball name (Walkoff), I have a tremendous passion for being a great teammate and improving my skills on the diamond. Baseball is in my life everyday. Whether I am playing a game, practicing, hitting in the cages or even watching it on TV, I can never get enough. Watching college or major league baseball as a kid, I have always said that is what I want to do when I grow up. I want to be part of baseball brotherhood, showing up everyday giving 110% effort for myself and my teammates. When I am not doing school work or developing my skills on the baseball field, I am with my trainer working to become faster and stronger. Knowing that the little thing are very important, I focus on what I can control, such as nutrition, working out and enhancing my mental skills. I always think about what can I do to get better today. If you were to ask my teammates what they would say about me, I believe that they would say I am a positive leader that motivates the team and holds them accountable when preparing for games and playing together. They would also say that I focus and compete until the final out and leave everything on the field. If you were to ask my coaches what kind of player I am, I believe that would say that I have the work ethic and drive to play baseball at the highest level and that I am one of the hardest workers on the team, either on or off the ball field. They would say that I am very coachable and open to improving my skills. Most importantly, they would say I lead by example, by being the first one to show up for practice and the last one to leave. This has given me the ability to play with confidence and conviction. Thank you for taking the time to read my personal statement and hope you find me a good fit for your program.
