Personal Statement
My name is Bailey Melz and I am a senior, Class of 2015, at Minnetonka High School, Minnetonka, MN. I am 5'8, 155 pounds, I bat right, throw left, and I am an outfielder and LHP. As a student athlete, I want to be able to continue playing the game I love and receive an excellent education. I have a 4.26 GPA as well as a 30 on my ACT. I take pride in my schoolwork as it is very important to me and academics play a large factor in deciding where I want to go for college. My best 60 yard dash is a 7.01, my top velocity is 78 mph from the outfield, and I am a leadoff hitter with gap power. I was selected by Baseball Factory to play in the 2014 Under Armour Fall Classic this past September 17-21, 2014. I am also attending the Perfect Game Tournament in Fort Myers, FL, from October 3rd-6th after being selected by Hitdawgs Academy to play on their roster.
I know what it takes to be a leader both on and off the field and I love filling that role, as I've been both the captain of my sophomore and junior varsity team. I like to be the guy people look up to and go to for advice, and the guy who everyone loves to be around. I take pride in my leadership skills, athletics, academics, and am more than blessed to have the opportunity to play the greatest game in the world.
Playing baseball at the next level has always been a dream of mine and I work hard every single day to get there. Repetition and hard work are crucial parts in being successful at the college level and these are two aspects of my game I am very proud of. I know I can have a positive effect both on and off the field and my goals beyond high school are to be successful and make an impact on a college program, both academically and athletically. I will not stop working until I have reached the athletic and academic levels that I know I am capable of.
Thank You,
Bailey Melz
