Gavin Huke '16 Recruiting Profile

My name is Gavin Huke, I am a right handed pitcher and outfielder for Carthage High School. We are a class 5 school in Missouri and compete in the very competitive Central Ozarks Conference.  I understand the commitment it takes to be successful in baseball and have been playing competitively since I was 9 years old. I am very aware that I am going to have to commit completely to play baseball at the college level. Playing college baseball has been a dream of mine since I really started getting a feel for the game. I would love the opportunity to play for any college baseball team. I believe I am still developing and have a high upside to grow and increase velocity.  I believe I am a good candidate for any team because I have a calm and consistent personality, I am very coachable because I will let you critique me as much as needed. As a pitcher I make every pitch count, I am very consistent in the strike zone and rarely miss. I understand that pitching is about knowing situations and pitching to those situations. From the outfield, I see the ball off the bat well and my arm is strong enough and accurate to throw people out. At our home field Carl Lewton Stadium, center field is 444 feet so I know how to cover ground correctly and efficiently with the ability to get the ball around the field. Being athletic is great, but getting it done in the classroom is just as important. I am a smart kid with good grades and a good work ethic, I wish I could tell you exactly what I want to major in but I am unsure still.
