I am very hardworking and I have put in a lot of effort in the weight room through my high school career. I am very coachable and I am an easy person to get along with. I've played baseball since I was 4 years old and I've always loved it. My dream has always been to play for a college and I can feel that my dream has the potential to come true. I've started on my high school varsity team all three years so far and I've been a key contributor. I've played competitive ball for 6 years and I've been a leader for every team. I'm easy to work with and I'd be great to have on your team. I have been voted by my peers as team captain for my senior year of baseball. My high school coach's recommendation: July 6, 2015 To whom it may concern, I am writing this letter on behalf of Rian Markes. I have known Rian for 3 years now and have had the pleasure of coaching him in baseball and football, teaching him in US History and Personal Finance and having him in House (our homeroom system) every day for 3 years. Needless to say, I have spent lots of time with Rian and I am extremely proud of the young man he has become. Rian has been a 3 year varsity starter for me as a left handed pitcher and as a first baseman. He was voted 1st team all-district his junior year and carried a sub 1.00 ERA throughout most of the season. Rian was also voted a team captain by his peers, displaying his leadership abilities. Rian's on-field success is a direct result of his hard work over the past few years. He has exceptional attendance in school, never missing a day in his entire high school career. This dedication to his school work is also seen in his dedication to the weight room. As a multi-sport athlete, Rian has been one of our most consistent workers in strength and conditioning. His willingness to put the work in during the offseason has allowed him to really mature as a baseball player and a young man. Rian is a talented athlete, but his dedication and work ethic, in my professional opinion, are what make him an asset to any program. Rian has an exceptional demeanor on the mound. He never gets too high or too low and he never allows a previous pitch affect his next pitch. His ability to harness his emotions allows him to perform in stressful situations throughout the game and sets the tone for the entire team. Rian throws strikes, keeps the ball down, and works very quickly, making him a tough matchup for most teams. I believe Rian Markes to be a collegiate baseball player and one who will be a great addition to any school and program.
