Personal Statement

Baseball has been a big part of my life for as long as I can remember. I first started playing baseball when I was five years old in the metro Birmingham area. I played there for six years before moving to Lewistown, Montana with my family in 2015. In Montana, I am an outfielder and a left-handed pitcher for the Lewistown Redbirds, an American Legion team, because Montana has no high school baseball. I love the game of baseball, and I am working hard to have the opportunity  to play at the next level. Why do I love baseball? I love baseball because of the lifelong friendships I've made and the competitiveness of the sport. I love setting goals and working hard to achieve them.  I love the fact that in baseball there is always a goal to set; there is always a skill to improve. I also love setting goals with my teammates and pushing each other to achieve those goals. We each become better players individually, which makes our team better. One thing that I feel sets me apart is my mental toughness and my short memory.  This has given my coaches the confidence to put me in the role of closer on several of my teams. I want to play the game of baseball as long as I'm blessed with the opportunity, but when my days of playing are over, I want to work in the field of athletics in some way, such as coaching or physical therapy.
