Personal Statement
My name is Derrick Rabb Jr. I am right hand dominant, weigh 170 and stand at 6'0". I am a junior attending East Mecklenburg High in Charlotte, North Carolina. My primary position is shortstop and I have also played second base, third base and experienced catching for my high school team. My secondary position is pitching.
I am consistently working on improving my skills while also pushing myself to be the biggest, fastest, and strongest athlete possible. I strive to act as a good role model for my fellow peers and those players younger than me. One part of being on a team I truly enjoy is the, "family" I really get to become a part of. I feel that I truly thrive in close team environments, and I constantly encourage and support each of my fellow teammates. I am a very coachable player and a very hard worker; I won't stop until I accomplish what I set out to do. I guarantee that no matter what obstacle that may be put in my way, I can find a way to overcome it. There are no excuses for excuses.
I am a responsible student that gets all of my assignments done in a timely manner. I have taken many of the hardest classes possible - with AP and honors classes. The course-work has not been easy, and I struggled at times, but it has been worthwhile to persevere and successfully reach this point in school with a 3.2 GPA. I see college baseball as an opportunity to continue to play the game I love. My goals for baseball are to become the best player that I can be on and off the field. My goals for academics are just as important as my goals for baseball. I have not yet decided on a major, but I want to challenge myself, play competitive baseball, and receive a great education. I am open to different types of colleges. Thanks for reviewing my profile and I look forward to talking to you about your program.
Sincerely,
Derrick Rabb Jr.
