(Update 5-2-14) Coming off our spring break and a tough loss, we beat our conference rival McMichael tonight 3-1 to clinch our Conference Championship as I pitched a complete game 3-hitter on 98 pitches, striking out seven and walking two, moving my record to 7-0 and our overall team record to 18-4 overall on the season. Last year, I also pitched a complete game shutout to clinch the Conference Championship making this the first time in school history for Western Alamance to win back to back conference titles..
(Update 4-18-14) I am currently in my senior year for Western Alamance in which we hold a 14-3 record (11-3) in Conference play. I just came off a complete game shutout performance (5 innings via run rule) as we defeated Western Guilford 10-0. I gave up 4 hits, 1BB and 6 K's on 71 pitches. Prior to that game, we defeated our arch-rival Eastern Guilford 14-4 to take over first place where I threw 6 innings, giving up one earned run and striking out 7 in 105 pitches. My record this year on the mound is 5-0 with an ERA under 2 while maintaining my strikeout to BB ratio from last year of 4:1. I gained 15 pounts of muscle during the off season and currently sit at 6'1" 225 lbs. I continue to pound the strike zone and take pride in throwing all of my pitches for strikes. I currently added a slider to my repertoire and now have four pitches I have confidence in to throw at any time during the count for strikes. My fast ball is averaging 86-87 as I continue to work on my velocity to get into the 90's. My offspeed pitches can range anywhere between 65 and 75 mph and really keep the hitters off balance. I consider myself a workhorse on the mound, and every time I take the ball, I expect to pitch a complete game and get the win. My velocity also increases as I go deeper into the games as my body seems to get stronger as the game goes on. I am looking forward to helping our team reach our goal of a State Championship.
(Updated 5-17-13) My name is Michael Olenoski Jr and I currently attend Western Alamance High School (Div 3A) in Burlington, North Carolina. I will graduate in 2014. In my sophomore year, I played on the Varsity squad as a starting pitcher pitching in our non-conference games where I compiled a record of 3-1. I am the #1 SP in our rotation and take pride in fulfilling that role. This year, I held a 7-2 record with a 2.07 ERA, with 92 K's and a strikeout to walk ratio of 4 to 1. I had 6 complete games including a no hitter in the first round of the state playoffs. I hit a walk off two run homerun along with 2 other home runs. I came out strong hitting during the second half of the season with 6 doubles and 3 home runs. You can see my games on my videos included on my profile page. This year we lost in the 3rd round but we have high expectations for next year.
I am currently 6'1", 210 lbs. Besides being the starting pitcher, my primary positions include SS and 2B. I can play multiple positions and have played all nine positions on the field at a very high level. My fastball is currently averaging 84/85 mph and topping out at 87/88 mph with my curve and change up approximately 10 mph slower than my fast ball. I have also recently added a slider to my repertoire which is working very well. My goal is to be consistently throwing my fastball in the 90's by my Senior year. I can throw all four of my pitches consistently for strikes and take pride in my control of the strike zone as well as my poise and leadership on the mound.
I have loved baseball, football and basketball my entire life and have always had a goal to play baseball in College and fulfill my dream of being drafted into the MLB one day and pitching in the big leagues. Yes - "this is my dream", and I realize the percentages of this happening which I will take one step at a time to do so. During my freshman year, I have given up football and basketball to concentrate solely on baseball and continue to work very hard off the field as I know this will separate me from the best. My goal right now is to pinpoint colleges I am interested in and work with them to get recruited to be a part of their baseball program. I would love to play Division one baseball and have received very positive evaluations in all of my recent camps that this is a very feasible goal based on my skills, athletics as well as my grades. I love baseball.. It is my PASSION, and I will continue to work as hard as possible both on and off the field to achieve both my goals and my dreams, as well as be a valuable team member, leader, and contributor both on and off the field at every level.
