Personal Statement
My name is Jay Dixon and I'm an 18-year old senior. I am 6'1" and 200 lbs. I have played baseball since I was 5 and have loved every minute of it. For me, it's not all just about hitting the ball--although I can definitely do that--I enjoy the mental strategy involved. I've studied a lot so I can anticipate how to field balls, plus better read pitches and place my hits. When I catch, it allows me to QB the game-- calling pitches and getting to be involved in every single play. I moved over to Wesleyan Christian (High Point, NC) as a sophomore to be a part of a baseball powerhouse under Coach Scott Davis. As a new player on the Trojan team, I played JV most of my sophomore year with occasional call-ups to Varsity. I started at 3rd base as a junior last year on the Varsity team. The Wesleyan Trojans were runner-ups in the NCISAA 3A division. I am currently also playing with the Triad Bulls in showcase tournaments throughout the Southeast. I have experienced success playing against older competition throughout my career. I am a straight-A student and am serious about my academics. I'm athletic and versatile as I play 3rd base and catch for the Bulls, as well as my varsity team. I am a leader on and off the field and very vocal, encouraging and competitive. I absolutely hate losing and give 110% on and off the field. I am open to any strong academic colleges with a strong baseball program.
