I am a 6 foot 3, 210 pound athletic junior corner infielder. I can hit for power to all fields as well as average. In addition, I am a sound defensive player.
I recently competed in the Perfect Game 2015 Sunshine Southeast Showcase event in Georgia May 30-31. There I was named to the Top Prospect List & Top Prospect Team for the 2017 class. Then during the period of July 10-15 at the 2015 WWBA 2017 Grads or 16U National Championship event also held at the Perfect Game park in Georgia I batted .400 and had an on OBP of .500. As a result, I was named to the All Tournament Team. I am currently ranked as the #2 1B in NC. My PG grade is 8.5 of 10.
I enjoy playing baseball more than anything else. It is my passion. As I’ve progressed in my career there have been obstacles along the way, but I have overcome them all. Growing up I wasn’t blessed with top speed but what I have been blessed with is an impeccable work ethic and a desire that cannot be quenched. I have found that even if you aren’t the best, hard work can get you to the same level as that freak athlete. I have a blue collar approach to my sport because that is the mentality that keeps me unsatisfied and always working. As a matter of fact I have shaved a 1/2 second off my 60 yard time since my initial Perfect Game event on May 30th in less than 3 months. I recorded a 7.5 time at the UNCC Summer Showcase on Aug 15th. I will not stop there. My goal is to reach the lower 7's by the start of my High School Junior baseball season.
My drive and work ethic can be directly attributed to my parents who raised me to be hard working and to always stick to my core values. They are old school in that regard and that has shaped me. My father especially always taught me that there is a certain way to do things and that is the right way. Otherwise you become mediocre and that is unacceptable. Baseball has taught me how to handle failure. After all it’s a game of failure and nobody will ever hit 1.000. However if you can learn from those failures and take something from them then they aren’t failures but in fact they become minor victories.
Besides playing baseball I also play football. I play defensive end which has made me far more athletic and has allowed me to bring a very hardnosed tough, yet calm attitude to my baseball play. Football also introduced me to another great passion of mine, which is weightlifting. Every single day I do some level of weight training and speed work. These things have increased my strength to the point where now I am the strongest player on every field. It has also made me quicker and more flexible than I have ever been. I do extensive cable and agility work and focus on my 3 core lifts. I back squat 405, bench 255 and power clean 235.
Academically I am at 3.6 weighted. I am taking 3 AP courses this year in order to better prepare myself for college. Once in college I would like to major in business. I am open to any college in all regions of the country as long as they are a good academic institution and have a quality baseball program.
In closing I want to emphasize that I am a hard worker who is tirelessly driven to be the best and to succeed.
