Personal Statement
We generally had a good time growing up on the farm in South Georgia. When we wanted extra things, we had to work for them. That, however, was good, because I learned that working hard pays off. My parents, along with my grandparents, instilled good values, manners, morals, discipline, and dedication into my life. My mother and father hve helped and encouraged me in every way that they could in every step of my life. However, my older brother was a very good ball player and he taught me almost everything that I know about baseball. He would make me go out into the yard and catch ground balls that he would hit when I was a little boy. If I missed one, he would hit the next one ten times harder! If the good lord was willing, I caught it!
I because very interested in baseball when I was 6 years old and went to Madison, Georgia, to watch my brother's team win the state championship in 2005. I have played ball from T-Ball until the present. It has been fun to play and have loved it passionately.
The most important thing I have learned about myself is, probably, that if I set my mind to do something and work hard at it, with God's help, I will be able to do it. Having patience as a baseball player is tricky, because, if you are trying to learn something new, the new skill will not just come to you, you will have to work at it. I have also learned that you to not only think to play well, but think quickly. I guess that is why my daddy always said,"Baseball is a smart mans sport."
My academic goals for high school are to pull my GPA up to a 3.0 or as high as I possibly can. My academic goal for college is to earn a four year degree in sports medicine. Scoop can be hard, and that is why my mother said,"Surround yourself with good people."
The biggest I stick that I have had to face was out moving to North Dakota. It was not easy for this South Georgia boy, who was 13 years old, to move 2,000 miles in the opposite direction. I have been belssed, however, with a personality that allows me to make friends quickly.
Some unique characteristics and skills that I possess are that it is easy for me to get along with others. I am easily coaches and will not give up for anybody! My baseball coaches have told me that I am confident, but not arrogant, on the field. I am thankful to The Lord every time I am able to play on the dimond!
