Hi, I'm Daniel Hundley. I'm 6 foot 1 and weigh 170 lbs. I love baseball. I've been playing baseball since I was six or seven years old. Even at a young age I was very good at pitching. I remember how motivating it was to me when parents from the opposing team would come up to my parents and me after games congratulating me on how well I pitched. I've been developing my pitching skills ever since then. But I can play any position on the field except behind the plate. I can throw from deep anywhere in the outfield all the way to home plate, I can play short stop exceptionally well, I'm one of the fastest on my team, I'm good at stealing bases, I contribute to winning games with my consistent batting, and if asked by my coach to play any other position I know I have their confidence. But I'm primarily a right handed pitcher. I was evaluated by scouts at the NTIS Midwest Regional Tryouts for the USA Baseball team in St. Louis in August 2015. Using a scale of 1 to 6 they rated almost every category of my pitching at a 4 (top 20%) and my fastball movement as a 4+. My top speed during that evaluation was 84mph and I was 83mph at a Perfect Game event in Fort Meyers, Florida in October 2015 but I haven't been clocked since then so I might be in the mid to upper 80's range by now. I will be playing with the St. Louis Gamers gray team in the summer of 2016. Our tournament schedule is online at www.stlgamers.net.
I want to pitch in the major leagues. I am open to playing at any college division level in order to continue to develop my skills. I would prefer to attend a college or university in the midwest that is not excessively far from Nebraska but I have the support of my parents to go wherever my baseball skills will be developed the most. I am a good student in school. I make friends very easily. I am a team player and an encourager to my teammates. I'm respectful to my coaches and when I do make a mistake I don't let it get me down. I press on trying to do it better the next time. One of my favorite quotes is from NBA great Michael Jordan where he points out:
"I've missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed."
For a coach that has confidence in me and encourages me to be my best I will do everything I can to not let him down. It's in my DNA.
