Personal Statement
Hey Coach,
My name is Luis Rafael Rodriguez, and I attend Alfred E. Smith Educational Campus located in the South Bronx. As A freshmen in High School, I made varsity and my coach gave me a spot to be a starting Pitcher and when I wasn't pitching I was the Starting first basemen. However in my freshmen year as a varsity starter I struggled with my command as a pitcher and was put into the bullpen I ended the season with an ERA of 11.07 and the following year (Sophomore Year) it increase at a 14.81. I knew something was up so I took that summer just to practice on what I needed to work on which was my command. As a result to my hardwork and dedication my Junior year I was awarded MOST IMPROVE, having a come back season of a 2-1 record, leading the league in Saves with 3 and a ERA of 2.71. What made me a good candidate for my Schools team is being able to motivate others to not only take baseball serious and remember to have fun while doing it but that school is your number 1 priority, Student comes before being an athlete. What makes me different from other recruits as an athelete is that there never an offseason in baseball, if you're awarded MVP or Athlete of the year, that doesn't mean for you to stun training it motivates you into becoming a better athelete and strive for the best but with disciplinary and with confidence. What makes me different with my academics is that I love to challenge my self as a student, challenging my self as a student helps me get ready for the real world and also college.
Thank you very much Coach, Luis Rodriguez
