Personal Statement
Hello, my name is Jeriel Lantigua also known as Jj by friends, coaches and family. My goal is to play division 1 or division 2 and then see where that takes me in my baseball career. I am currently a Junior at George W. Hewlett High School.
I throw and hit left handed. I am currently a 6'1 165 lb. left handed pitcher. One week into my freshman year of high school baseball I was moved up to the varsity level as a relief pitcher then worked up to becoming a starter for my sophomore year. Since the age of 4 I have come to love the sport of baseball. I have always pitched all my life due to coaches noticing the movement of my fastball. I love being on the mound and being in control of the game pitch by pitch
When I'm not playing baseball or not in school I enjoy working out and hanging out with my fellow teammates. I also like to watch a good game with my father. He was the first person to put a baseball in my hand and was a baseball player in the Dominican Republic professional level. He has always looked for ways to improve my game and is always at my games.
School and baseball take up most of my time. Over the winter months I do speed and agility training and weight training. My parents always make sure I don't over work myself so they make sure I get atleast one day of the week to relax. My parents are very positive people they have always supported me in baseball that's one of the reasons I love playing so much.
In conclusion I would like to assure all of the college coaches interested in me that I'm a hard worker. I try to be a better student, baseball player and person every day. On the field I communicate clear and loudly off of the field I would say I am a little quieter than most. Coaches usually tell me that I am very coachable and always open to listening to advice.
