Personal Statement

I have loved the game of baseball ever since I started playing.  Every time I step on the field I get a rush and everything that is off the field doesn't matter to me any more. When I am playing I get in a zone and no one can get me out until the game is over.  Without baseball I don't know what I would do.  Sure I could play other sports but no other sport can give me the same feeling I get when I make contact with the ball, throw some one out at second or make a diving catch.  Baseball is what I love and it is my passion.

  • Under Armour National Try Out and Evaluation
  • 10/05/14 to 10/05/14
  • Patrick was selected for the National Tournament in Pirate City in December. Here are the evaluation notes: 60 yard dash 7.57 seconds. Defensively as an outfielder, he has aggressive actions and a good feel for the position, as he plays through the ball well. His footwork is efficient and he shows good hands. He can work on long toss to increase arm strength, and also to work on a crow hop to get more on his throws. His throws have a little tail to them as well, so it is important to work on throwing from an over the top arm slot as an outfielder to get more carry on the throws. On his whole evaluation, we think the arm is the area that needs the most work, but he is well above average defensively relative to other freshmen we see. His hitting is also above average for his age. He has a smooth load of his hands, he is balanced, and he gets good extension/finish on his swing. He can work on staying shorter with his swing and getting his lower half involved.
