Personal Statement
My name is Chris Baker from Moorestown, NJ and I am writing to you because of my interest in playing Baseball in college. I play on my high school team and I consider myself a player who can hit, field, throw, and run well.
Just to tell you a little bit about myself. I am a Center Fielder and leadoff hitter on my high school team. I was named Moorestown High School’s Hitter of the year for 2016 and 2017 with a .417 batting average (that is the same average for 2016 and 2017). I was named all-Liberty conference 1st team 2016 and 2017, all Burlington County 1st team 2016 and 2017, I was also voted Burlington County’s sophomore of the year and I represented my county at the Carpenter Cup in Philadelphia 2016 and 2017. This game features all of the tri-state area’s top players. The players come from Central/Southern NJ, eastern Pennsylvania and Delaware. Currently my summer AAU team is South Jersey Elite and I can send you my summer schedule, if interested. I play all outfield positions but primarily left and center field. I primarily bat 3rd or 1st in the batting order. I like batting first to set the tone for my team by getting on base and stealing when the conditions are right. I bat for a high average and I intend to add to my power numbers as evidenced by my recent performance in summer AAU baseball.
As a student, I am interested in obtaining a degree in accounting, finance or business operations. I currently have a 3.6 GPA and my current SAT score is 1090. I plan to take the SAT again on August 26th. My goal is to score above 1200. I am currently involved in the Interact club which is a service organization and I serve as my home room representative for student council. I also participate in my church’s vacation Bible school as a classroom aide for grade school children. I was also extremely fortunate to have been able to travel with my father to Haiti as part of a mission trip. The experience has changed my outlook on life in a very significant way. I believe that my academic strengths are in science and math. I am attracted to accounting as a profession because I love math and my grandfather was a CPA. I am interested in schools that have a strong business program.
