Steven Barmakian '16 Recruiting Profile

From the time I was two and a half years old, throwing rocks into the air and batting them over the neighbor's fence, I have had a passion for baseball.    Now, as a junior, 2-sport varsity athlete, lettering in both football and baseball at Westfield High School in NJ, I have made baseball my focus for college.  I am a left-handed batter who led the team in RBI's and tied for most stolen bases this past season.  I was just named Captain for Spring, 2016 and selected to play in Union and Essex Counties' Underclassmen All Star game.  I made the JV baseball team as a freshman, finishing the season with the highest OB percentage, most RBI's and most stolen bases for Spring, 2013.  Last year, I tied for highest OB percentage and batted .458.  While I can bat for average, batting for power is my strength.  I have 4 years experience playing for the club baseball team, Full-Count Baseball, and was named to their 2014 All Tournament Showcase Team, Perfect Game Georgia.  I am a versatile player who has played 3rd base for high school, 3rd base, 1st base and outfield for my club team and short stop and catcher last Summer, 2014 for my summer legions teams.  While I am primarily a corner infielder, I can play any infield and outfield position and serve as back-up catcher.  My goal is to find a school with the right balance of academics and athletics that will allow me to excel both in the classroom and on the field.  My love for baseball aside, academics is a priority for me as a 3.7 GPA student.  My dream is to study business or law at a top ranked college or university while playing on a team with a good work ethic, "can do" attitude and "team first" mentality.  I am looking for good team comraderie, which I believe is the secret to any team's success.  I am open to playing at any Division level with no geographic restrictions.
