My love for sports started at an early age, any game with a ball and I was ‘all in’. I grew up watching my Mom and Dad play church softball. I learned they both were good high school athletes and we were always playing a game around the house. I have had fun participating in various levels of competition that include baseball, soccer, aikido, and basketball. Since starting high school I have reduced my number of varsity sports to baseball and soccer. I play baseball in the spring and varsity soccer in the fall as well as weekend baseball with our American Legion Post 82 travel club.
This Spring I was fortunate enough to play on the 3A North Carolina State High School Championship runner-up team. We began the season with a 6-6 record but finished very strong with 19 straight wins until getting beat in the championship series. Our team worked very hard to improve our hitting and overcome injuries and that hard work paid off. We lost the third game of the championship series 2 – 1. It was bittersweet and we were so close we could taste it. We had only three seniors on our club and our goal is to get back to the state finals next year. Playing baseball teaches me how to win and lose and how to move forward no matter what may have happened on the last play.
My personal goal is to continue playing baseball in college and contributing to a successful program. I will bring a strong work ethic and positive attitude to my team.
