Marcus Byrd '24 Recruiting Profile

Hello, my name is Marcus Byrd and I'm 18 years old.   I am a senior at South Central High School in Winterville NC.  I love baseball and I have been playing since I was seven years old. I have a 4.0 GPA and because of my good academics I got accepted into the National Honors Society for my school.  The positions I mainly play are 1st, and pitch but, I play a little 3rd as well.  My 12 year old year I helped my little league All Star team win a State Championship.  My 13 year old year, I helped my Babe Ruth All-Star team win a State Championship, a Regional Championship, and make it to the World Series in Westfield Massachusetts.  We came in 2nd place in the nation.   One day I hope to play in the MLB.   So, as you see sports and being active are important to me.  I would like to pursue a career in Engineering/Biomedical Robotics.   In this field I want to build prosthetics for amputees, and people that have problems with mobility.  I think this field is important because I can build devices that can help injured athletes be more active and achieve a better way of life. What makes me different from other recruits is that I am always focused and take things seriously when it comes to practicing and getting better to show it on the field.
