Personal Statement
Hi, my name is Eddie Ye. I’m 5’ 9", 17 years old from Valley Stream, New York.
As a baseball player, I am a student of the game. During any given games, I can pick up on small details quick, however, it is my personality, and composure on the field what is most important to my game. My personality is a big part of my game; I don’t like seeing my teammates down, and losing. Whenever my teammates are in a slump, or in a bad mood, I am compelled and feel responsible to encourage them anyways possible. As much as I am a student of the game, my job in life at the moment is to be a student in the class room. I believe that academics are as important as physically playing baseball.
Being an athlete has had a big impact on my life. Playing sports from young age taught me how to work hard, and helped me learn that improvement in skills does not take place over night. Also, being a multi-sport athlete allows me to have a different perspective on sports. Something that separates baseball from the other sports such as soccer and basketball is that in baseball, you can’t “run” the clock once you get a lead. You have to pitch, and play every moment of the game because with one swing of the bat the game can be turned around.
For this reason I love baseball, every pitch, every at bat is so important, making a player concentrate much harder, play nearly perfect and bring your best every second of the game.
I have been playing with travel baseball team, varsity baseball, varsity soccer, and varsity basketball.
As a junior, upcoming spring baseball season marks the beginning of my high school career.
Thank you for reviewing my profile, and please stay tune till later into the season.
Regards,
Eddie Ye
