Personal Statement
~~My name is Matthew Trudden and my nickname is “Sweet”! I got the nickname a few years ago from some of my older brother Steven’s team mates. Anyway, I love playing baseball and I am thankful for the opportunities that I have had so far thanks to the support of my family. I consider myself a pretty good ball player but an even better team player. I consider myself to be very athletic and work hard at bettering my baseball skills. I have always dreamed of playing baseball at the highest levels possible and will continue to work hard at achieving my dreams.
I go to Christ the King Regional HS in Queens, NY. I am currently a junior and will be playing my third season at the Varsity level in the spring of 2015. I have been a starter since my freshman year playing mostly middle infield. I consider myself a very strong defensive player and capable to play just about any position on the field if necessary. I have also progressed offensively and work hard in the cage and off season to become a better hitter and faster and stronger athlete. Academically I work hard to attain high grades and the first semester of this 2014-15 year I have achieved a grade point average of 92. I have taken both the SAT and ACT tests and plan to take them again in hopes of improving my scores.
I have played competitive summer travel ball the last few years with teams sponsored by the Frozen Ropes-Garden City facility. This coming 2015 Season I will be playing on a 16U Showcase team that will be playing in the Long Island Boys of Summer league which is considered one of the most highly competitive in the NY area. Our team is also playing in several local and regional showcases & tournaments. I will be the starting shortstop for the team.
I am still undecided as to what area I want to study in college. I am thinking along the lines of History-Education and/or a Sports Management major. I am looking forward to getting a quality education and having a great college experience. Playing baseball at the next level will be an added bonus to college life. I can promise that if I attend your school and play on your team you will not be dissatisfied. I will work extremely hard to become a better player and team mate. Thank you!
