Personal Statement
My name is Christopher Dixon and I am a rising junior at Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts in New York City. I am an instrumental major. The instrument I play is the trombone.
My primary position is pitcher but I also play first base because I like to hit. This year is a big year for me and my team because we lost in the PSAL semi-finals and we want to be in the championship this year. Also, for me I will try to take on the role of being the #1 pitcher on my team since both of our senior pitchers have graduated. I got that opportunity to pitch in a big game when I started in our semi-final playoff game. Even though we lost, I learned what it takes to be successful in order to win a championship. I also went to watch the championship game to see what level I need to be at in order to help my team get there next season.
This summer, I played with the NY Crush travel baseball team where I got to pitch a lot of innings against some of the better travel teams in the city. I got a chance to pitch with both the 16u and 18u teams. While every outing was not a success I was able to take those bad times as fuel to get better.
I will continue to work hard everyday to make my goal of playing college baseball a reality.
