Personal Statement
Greetings coaches, my name is George Mulcahey and I am currently a junior at Millennium Brooklyn High School in Brooklyn, New York. I have been the starting shortstop on the varsity team since 2015 as a transfer student. In 2015 I was also named the MVP and silver slugger on the varsity team while playing 14 games at shortstop. I've been developing on the mound as well, and striving towards seeing several starts as a pitcher as well this upcoming season. I feel that I have the ability to not only play college ball, but also exceed expectations, and I'm willing to put in the work on and off the field to make that happen. Every year I've noticed huge steps forward in every aspect of my game, advancing my craft in every field whether it's defense, offense, or pitching. Off the field my work ethic has been showing as well, as I've improved drastically in my classes. I've come to learn the game within the game, which has become a huge advantage over any opponent, as well as a great contribution to my team. Thanks for your interest.
George Mulcahey is a 2017 SS/RHP with a 5-10 150 lb. frame from Brooklyn, NY who attends Millennium HS. Mulcahey has a medium build with room to fill out and add strength. Hits from a slightly open stance and strides to square with a leg lift trigger. Line drive swing plane with lift. Has good weight shift into swing, has developing bat speed and shows strength in swing. Stays balanced through out, contact approach with power potential as he fills out. Defensively, athletic actions, fields out front and comes through with good footwork to have momentum toward target, threw 84 across diamond, has tools to develop defensively. Also pitches, small side step to back to medium leg lift, early rotation on delivery but does good job getting out front consistently. Four seam fastball in low 80s is straight, mixed more two seams with run that sat in upper 70s. Two seam was good pitch. Mixed in curveball with developing spin and depth along with a rare change up down that was down in zone with sink. Good Student.
PG Grade 8.0
“A true two way player. Velocity was on display on Sunday. Showed plus bat-speed even with the wood bat. Good hands, great arm from the field, coaches split on pitcher or MIF at the next level.” - i95 metro showcase
