Also continue to work on your foot speed, agilities and jump ropes are great for that. You have a solid swing, try not to breakdown when you swing, stay tall and rotate your backside, that is where your power comes from. We look forward to seeing you play again in the near future. Good Luck and continue to work hard!

  • ATHLETIC EVALUATION: 60 Time: 8.35 Home to 1B: 4.90 OF Velocity: 65-69 INF Velocity: 64-65 Below average footspeed for both INF and OF. Will need to work in this area. Most OF at college level are 7.0 or less and corner INF are in the low 7.2-7.5 range. Demonstrated some athleticism around the 1B bag and showed positive bat speed. DEFENSIVE EVALUATION: Approach & Footwork: OF- Choppy movements with glove foot fielding the ball behind lead leg instead of out in front. Very limited with crowhop, more of an inside shuffle step. Forces a throw before arm is ready. 1B- Used breakdown steps to get into low fielding position. Would like to see left foot get further out in front of the body to create a better angle for the glove. Hands: OF- stayed underneath everything on the ground and had proper placement outside of lead leg. All fly balls were properly caught over throwing side. 1B- Soft and stay with everything. Did well on short hop throws when receiving at 1B. Release: OF- Limited crow hop force a short arm action and the ball was out quickly but without any arm extension, resulting in the ball being released at an upward angle. 1B- Quick exchange from glove to hand and then into throwing motion, especially when during double plays. Arm Strength: OF- Average for age but most throws had an arc to them. Will need to bring throw down on a line in order to get the ball from point A to point B in a timely fashion. 1B- Showed shorter arm action and more life to hjs throws from the infield. Gets body into good positions to make accurate throw. Projects higher at the 1B postion. Would recommend continuing here but also learning the nuances of 3B as well to make yourself more marketable in the long term as opposed to OF. Throwing arm, footwork and glove could work at 3B just as well as they do at 1B. OFFENSIVE EVALUATION: Setup & Timing: Starts with wide open stance and upright bat angle. Strides back to even with a toe-tap. Hands are already back in a “pre-loaded” position. Lower Half: Front side stays closed at contact and rolls open through swing. Back foot & hips do rotate but often during the swing and do not finish off until after contact. Earlier back foot/hip rotation will allow for a more explosive lower half and help with balance and bat speed. Swing Path: Lead arm often pulls through in an extended position prior to contact, limiting Chris’ leverage through the ball as he sweeps through the zone. Did demonstrate consistent extension after contact, keeping the bat and ball together for a longer period of time. Will need to make adjustments by shortening up swing both with the lead arm and top hand (controls bat angle). Contact: Mostly line drive/flyball contact to all fields. Bottom 1/3 of the ball contact. Power: Should develop in this department as he had solid contact to all fields with limited lower half effort and some length in his swing. Ball does jump off his bat when squared up. Has natural lift to the finish of his swing which will contribute to getting the ball in the gaps and over the fence in the long term. Ideal #4 or #5 as he progresses. Very encouraging to see Chris take the ball to all fields. With above adjustments, physical growth, strength training and game experience, Chris should develop into an offensive threat who not only can drive the ball but hit for average.

  • I worked with Ricky Pacione for my baseball skills. Ricky was drafted by the Anaheim Angels in 2011. He is now the bullpen catcher for the Cleveland Indians. He helps me with all of the tools needed in baseball. We work on my running, fielding, throwing, hitting, and my knowledge of the game.
