Matthew Cantanno '14 Recruiting Profile

I have always imagined myself playing college baseball and receiving a quality education that will provide me with the necessary tools for a successful future. When I play the game I love,baseball, seen through the eyes of a catcher, I always give 110% and try to do whatever is needed to help my team become a winner. Growing up, my family has always been my #1 fan. They have taught me how to be organized and focused in everything I do especially when a good education is a top priority in my life. I believe I am blessed with many talents and know that having a strong faith has given me the spirit and fortitude to be the best that I am. Another sport I play to stay in shape is basekball. I have played CYO basketball since I was 7 years old, and have played an outdoor summer league over the past 4 years. The last important thing I feel you should know about me is that my coach has great confidence in my athletic ability. Over the summer, when my teammates are away on vaction, I have been called to fill in at shortstop and third base several times. Even though my coach knows that catching is my #1 position, he believes my talent as a keen and inteligent ball player are helpful to the teams success. My ultimate dream is to be a catcher in the MLB, and my goal is to be able to combine an excellent education with my baseball talents in creating a solid future for myself.
