Personal Statement
My name is Matthew Alexander DeLaRosa and I am currently a senior at Warwick Valley High School. Baseball has been a passion of mine as far back as I can remember. One of my very first gifts as a child was a bat and a ball. From a very young age, baseball has taken precedence over most things in my life. Aside from my family and academics, my energy is focused on my love for baseball. In the classroom I am always working to be the best I possibly can. Playing in college has not only been one of my top goals but also a stepping stone to my dreams in the baseball or sports industry. Though I have discovered some of my shortcomings as a player, I know that they are outshined by my perseverance, willingness to learn, dedication to game and practice. Everyday I work hard to make myself a better player but most importantly baseball has taught me how to work to strive to be a better person. Being captain in my club team gave me experience in a leadership role, teaching me the true merit of being part of team and always supporting each other. I realized my role was important when I was the only player never willing to give up, always bringing up morale and always keeping our team grounded and honest. I admire these qualities in other players and therefore surround myself with positive people to help fuel my desire to be a better person and player. I would be grateful and honored to play for any college team that could see me succeeding, thriving and growing with them in the future.
