What makes me a good fit for most programs is my potential growth in baseball. A part from unique size and being left handed, I play football for one of the best programs in the country. While I love baseball and prefer it to football, maintaining a starting position at my school's football program takes up most of my time. Because of all the time I spend with football, I take five months of the year off from throwing (beginning of August till the first week of January). I feel that once I get to a college, I will be able to increase my velocity because I will be in a throwing program for most of the year. In addition, I also will be able to focus all my time dedicated to athletics on just baseball.
My school's football and baseball programs have taught me that success has to be earned. This is an important character trait for a left handed pitcher because growing up we are constantly told how rare we are and how everything will be given to us. I have a proven dedication and work ethic that is backed up by any of my coaches (football, high school baseball, summer baseball).
In addition to being an athletic power, my high school is prestigious academically. I am looking for a college that will challenge me in both areas. I am not sure exactly what I plan to major in yet, so a schools selection of programs will not be a deciding factor. I hope that these reasons will show why I am unique and could be a special player in any program.
