Personal Statement
My name is Tyler Kade Johnson and I am 17 years old. I am currently a senior at Bridge Creek High School in Oklahoma. My athletic activities include football and baseball. In football, I am a starting defensive end and I am on all special teams with the exception of punt team. In baseball, I am the starting catcher. I have played every position with the exception of first base. I have lettered in baseball since my freshman year. My freshman and sophmore year, I mostly pitched and played thrid base. I caught when the catcher went down to injury. I helped guide my team to the playoffs with strong pitching during those two years. My junior year, my family and I moved to Oklahoma from Texas. The team needed a strong catcher and I stepped up to perform. Since I was really the only catcher, this limited my pitching. While I would have liked to pitch more, I knew I was needed at the catcher position for the good of the team. I hit in the top of the line up. Last year, my batting average was over .530 and I hit 6 HR's. I had over 20 RBI's.
I am 5'11 and currently weigh 180. My 40 time is a 4.85 and I bat right and throw right. I have a very quick pop up time and a accurate throw down to second base. I have one of the strongest arms on the team. I consider myself a team player. I was taught to never point fingers or place blame because there is always something I could have done better to help my team. I give 110% each time I am on the field no matter what the sport is. I am a firm believer that athletics help shape a person. It has taught me a lot of life lessons that I will carry with me. While I do not believe that an athlete is superior to anyone, I do feel that athletes in all levels should hold themselves to a higher standard and always be a role model.
As far as school and my career choices go, I would like to attend a Junior College and then transfer to a D1. My goal is to play baseball and improve my skills at a JC level. I then hope my skills will get me a spot on a D1 roster. I would like to make a career as either a coach or a sports physical therapist. This way I can stay involved in sports which is what I love. I strongly believe that everything in life should be done with a 110% effort. I feel that you should be a strong presence in the class room and on the field as a role model. I plan to work hard and give my best in order to reach my goals in life and on the field.
