Personal Statement
Hello, I'm Josh King a senior at Sprague High school in Salem, Oregon. Playing collegiate baseball has always been a dream of mine. I simply love the game, and enjoy every time I get the chance to swing a bat or field a ball. I want to play baseball at the highest level I possibly can and will work day in and day out to achieve my goals. I consider myself very coachable, always looking to improve my game. I pride myself on being a great teammate and a leader on and off the field.
As much as I love baseball, and could easily allow it to consume all my time, I understand the importance of academics and being a well rounded person. I have taken a lot of time choosing my academic path through high school to make sure the classes I have taken will prepare me well for college. I have varied future academic interests and hope to pursue a degree in either neuroscience or architecture. I make an effort to be an active member of my community as well by participating in fundraising events through 4Him2Day-Children's Cancer Resource Foundation, a non-profit organization that helps local families in treatment for childhood cancer; as well as being a part of my schools "Oly Pageant", a year long fundraiser for Doernbecher Children's Hospital.
I believe I have taken advantage of several character building opportunities including returning successfully from shoulder surgery, and through that experience I have gained more respect for the game and learned to never take for granted the opportunity to play.
