Personal Statement
My name is Anthony Casta. I am a senior at Archbishop John Carroll High School in PA. My goal as a baseball player is not to just play at the college level, but be great. It is not as easy as it sounds but ever since I was 2 years old I broke a window in my house by hitting a baseball in my backyard I knew baseball was in my blood. Playing JV as a freshman was a great experience and being the captain of the JV team my sophomore was also a great experience. Not getting moved up to Varsity after the JV season did sting a little because I knew I had the talent but the hiccups I made that JV season don't define who I really am and I accepted what I deserved. I hit rock bottom my junior year and for all those people who don't think its possible and that it doesn't exist consider yourselves lucky. So here I am now, about to start my senior year and all I have on my mind is to win. I am a competitive person, just ask my friends. But the weight I have on my shoulder that I have to prove to the world who I am as a player will only make me work harder. Hitting rock bottom wasn't fun and I'm not going to lie I didn't think I was going to make it back, but I have already come this far with still more to prove. Being a 2016 Under Armour All American, as humbling and awesome of an experience as it was to play in Arizona, isn't the end of the road for me. My one message I ride with is simple. How you over come obstacles defines who you are, and I'm more determined and hungry than I have ever been to climb this hurdle. That's my personal statement.
