Personal Statement

My name is Tyler Arnold from Upper Moreland Pennsylvania.  I am 16 years old,  I am 5’11” and weigh 180 lbs.  I am a rising Junior who will be attending Upper Moreland High School in the Fall of 2017 and will be a part of the graduating class of 2019.  In 2016-17 I was the starting catcher on William Tennent High School Junior Varsity baseball team.  I have also played a few games for the Varsity team.  My primary positions are catcher and 3B.  At this time, it looks like I will be playing middle infield for my high school team.   While I do focus more on my primary positions more at practice, I have played every position and I play them pretty well.

I will be playing catcher, 3B, and pitching more for my club team (All Star Baseball Academy Futures North 2019), and I am anticipating that I will be starting 2B for the Varsity high school team.

This summer I was also a part of the Hatboro Little League Senior League Allstar team that won the District 22, and Section 8 title.  Our team was 2-2 in the State tournament and came in 3rd place.

When I was 10 years old I started playing travel baseball for The Upper Moreland Bears, this is when I started to LIKE baseball.  When I was 12 year old the Bears took a 5 day trip to Cooperstown Dreams Park, and this is when my LIKE of baseball turned into LOVE.  We played baseball all day, this was the best 5 days of my life.  After this trip I decided I want to play baseball for as long as my ability will allow.  Since my trip to Dreams Park, I have played for several teams. I have played for school teams Warminster Township's Connie Mack teams, All Star Baseball Academy teams, and PA Shockers teams.  I have always had pretty good stats and I feel I have been a leader and good teammate on each team.  I have been on winning teams and losing teams, and while I really like winning, it is always fun to play the game and spend time with my teammates.

I feel I am fortunate to be given the talent to play baseball, and a father who has fostered my love of, and desire to play the game.  I have had some really great coaches who have helped me to get better each day.  I believe I have been one of the hardest working players on all of my teams.  I always get to the field early and leave late.  I take BP, field grounders, catch bullpens, throw bullpens, or simply workout almost every day.  If there is another team practicing after me, I will often ask the coaches if I can workout with them too.  I feel my work ethic is second to none.  Although, I do not consider playing baseball working.

When I was 13 I started working out and playing at All Star Baseball Academy.  My coaches at ASBA all played in college, and some were coaches in college. I started to talk to my coaches about being a student/athlete in college.  They have given me some great advice, both about baseball and my academic career.   The most important things they have taught me are to compete at 100% all the time, and that my grades are just as important as my baseball skill. I have taken their advice to heart and I am starting to see better results in the classroom.

I believe I would be an asset to any baseball program.  I am a hard worker, a fierce competitor, and I can and have played every position on the baseball field.  I am a good teammate.  I pick up my teammates when they are down, and I bring energy if they are feeling low.  I am always excited to take the field and play the game I love.

I am not sure exactly what I would like to do when I get older, but I am interested in teaching, health and physical fitness, sports management, engineering, and business.  I would like to attend a college or university that will help me find an area in my adult life which I can love as much as I love baseball.  To bridge the gap between childhood and adult, why not play competitive baseball to extend my childhood love as long as possible.

Thank you for your time and consideration looking at my profile and I look forward meeting you and the coaching staff.
