Personal Statement
My name is Robbie John. I am 6'1 and weigh 225 pounds, and a member of the 2015 graduating class at Hazleton Area High School, Pennsylvania. My goals for college are to continue my academic and athletic careers by pursuing a Biology Degree at a school that has a Teaching, Athletic Training, Physical Therapy, or Physicians Assistant program. I am a consistent honors student, and currently ranked 172 in my class which contains 780 students. I work equally as hard in the classroom as I do on the field.
I was the starting catcher and cleanup hitter on my HS team this year. My HS team won our 2014 WVC Championship, we captured the District 2-4 title and we reached the PIAA State AAAA quarter finals. I called/managed all pitches for my HS pitching staff, which included two 2014 DIV 1 recruits ( PSU and UMES) a 2015 DIV 1 (Stony Brook commit) and a 2016 DIV 1 (PSU verbal commit) all 4 of the pitchers on staff had velocities between 87-95 MPH.
This upcoming summer, I will play with the Moosic Mets Elite Baseball Team, and the fall with the Bloomsburg Storm 18U. In the off-season I have the privilege of working with two professional players. Russ Canzler, 2011 AAA MVP and player on the AAA roster of the Philadelphia Phillies Organization worked with me all winter on my hitting and fielding skills. I worked with Kyle Landis a former University of Pittsburgh, and pitcher in the AA affiliate of the Cleveland Indians. I caught all of his bullpen sessions and threw with him until he left for spring training.
During my off season, I follow a weight lifting program and workout with Jim Laputka a physical therapist and also attend yoga classes.
