Personal Statement
My parents are the greatest influence and encouragement in my life. It is through their support that my love of baseball has developed. My family has always had a love for baseball. All of my uncles and my dad played as kids, my nana watched every Phillies game, and my grandpa was quite a player in his day. Ever since I was a little kid, I have loved baseball, most likely because of my family’s love for the game.
From the time I played on my first t-ball team to now, twelve years later, my passion for the game has only grown stronger. Baseball has taught me that even when I think I have figured something out, there is likely another step; this lesson has not only helped me on the field, but it has also helped me at school and in life. Baseball has made me more disciplined in all that I do.
As a high school student, I revere my grades as much as my passion for baseball. I work hard to attain high honors and have a high GPA every semester. I recognize that the steps I take now, as a high school student, will shape my future. I recognize the importance of my efforts now with regard to my future employers who will expect hard work and perseverance. Luckily for me, nothing has come naturally, which has made me understand the importance of hard work and practice in everything I do. It is this sense of being better that drives me to push forward and beat my opponents. Work ethic, for me, is most important, and the appreciation for this determination has come from my parents, who have pushed me and supported me throughout my life.
