Personal Statement
I am Tyler Herd and I play for Pennridge High School. My goals are to play baseball at the collegiate level, and receive a good education. I am a hard working person on the field and in the class room. In school I am an Honors student and I am currently taking three honors classes this year. On the field I hustle every play and never give up. Behind the plate I am a field general who controls the game. Also, I am a very strong defensive catcher who rarely allows balls to go through him. As a hitter I am a hard ground ball and line drive hitter who does not pop up often. As a hitter I was taught to know where to place the ball depending on the situation. I am not afraid to sacrifice my own at bat to allow my teammate(s) to advance. In my work to become a better player I have three to four official practices per week. I also work on my own where I take BP off of a tee two to three times a week and over 100-200 balls per session. Over the summer I woke up at 5 AM everyday to go to the gym to workout and now that school has started I go to the gym everyday after school.
