  • LATEST PG SHOWCASE REPORT 2021 PITTSBURGH INDOOR SHOWCASE (SUNDAY) Brandon Clifford is a 2022 RHP/MIF with a 6-3 180 lb. frame from South Park, PA who attends South Park HS. Brandon is a long and lean, athletic player with sound growth potential and noticeable ability on the diamond. In addition to his admirable talent on the diamond, Brandon is also a standout in the classroom. He ran a 7.44 60 yard dash. A primary RHP, Brandon has a great feel for how to pitch. He throws from the stretch only and works his plus average two pitch mix with great confidence. His mechanical operation is smooth and repeatable. He works down the slope well and his 79-83 mph fastball show consistent downward plane. His heater shows solid sinking action and consistent arm side run. He pitches with purpose and attacks the zone. He shows plus pace and rhythm. His 64 mph curveball is a plus complimentary offering. It shows deceptive 10/4 sweeping action and is thrown to both sides of the plate. His projectable frame serves him well at the plate, too. He starts from a balanced and even stance. He shows a great ability to keep his hands inside the ball and gets his barrel to and through contact with authority. There is definite pop in his swing and developing plus power potential. Brandon has the tools to project to the next level. His next two years in HS should allow for further physical maturing that should advanced his already commendable ability even more. Plus upside.

  • Physical: Large, projectable 6-foot-3, 180-pound frame with some projectability present on the bump. 7.38 runner in the 60-yard dash. Offensively: RHH - Balanced, slightly upright stance with the hands showing minor rhythm as the barrel pointed backwards. Leg hang stride was on time and allowed the barrel to work through a flat and leveraged position at the hitting window. Efficient turns with lift after impact yielding a 46% fly ball rate per Trackman Baseball. Mostly pull-side approach while hitting into a stiff front side; peaked at an 83 mph bat-exit velocity with a 223 foot batted ball distance. Defensively: The shortstop featured solid footwork showcasing right to left play at the fielding window with momentum towards the target. A soft glove hand showed early to the baseball giving way to an accurate 84 mph arm strength across the diamond; obvious feel from the left side of the infield. Pitching: RHP - The righty started from the stretch only with a high leg lift flashing hip coil at the top of the stack. Good drive outwards towards the plate releasing from a loose, high ¾ slot with a 5.57 foot average release height. FB ranged from 81-83 mph with a 25% zone rate; increased IVB (20.5 inches) but low spin (1861 average). Mixed a tight 67-68 mph breaker getting up to 11+ inches of horizontal movement and demonstrated advanced command of a 72-74 mph CH (100% zone rate) with fade to the arm side.
