Personal Statement
Hi, my name is Rob Vaillancourt and I am a junior at Bishop Hendricken High School in Warwick, RI. At Hendricken, baseball is a BIG deal, with the school winning the state championship 21 times over the last few decades. I love baseball and my goal since I was seven was to play for Hendricken. With dozens of kids trying out for twenty spots, I knew I had to work hard to make sure I secured one of those spots when I got to Hendricken. My dedication and hard work paid off having played for Hendricken for the past three years and I have confidence that I will continue being part of this great team. Looking forward, I know I want to continue to play baseball at the collegiate level.
My dedication and commitment to excelling at my sport has been instilled in me since I was young. One of my former coaches was known for quoting Brooks Robinson, “If you're not practicing, somebody else is, somewhere, and he'll be ready to take your job.” Quotes like this have motivated me to work hard, not just during baseball season but all through the year.
As a student-athlete, I am determined to perform to the best of my ability in both the classroom and on the field. As a student, I have maintained a 4.53 weighted GPA with Honors and AP level classes. In college, I plan to pursue engineering as a major and to play baseball. My goal is to find a college that is a good fit for me that allows me to do both. I know that at any level I pitch at, I will be able to adjust and dominate on the mound. If you’re looking for a player that works hard on the field and in the classroom, please consider me I won’t let you down.
