Personal Statement
I am a good student, nearly 4.0 GPA, and a well rounded baseball player that can play a multitude of positions very well. Infield, Catcher and Pitcher have been my positions in the past, playing mostly SS, with a little 3rd and 2nd base on my travel teams most recently. As a pitcher my velocity and control has steadily increased since I began pitching. Early last year the week before the season started I suffered a PCL injury which kept me off the field the next 5 weeks. I had just got back for a few games when a fast ball hit me in the wrist and I was out again for another 3 weeks. When I got back from that injury I just got to pitch a few games, the last one being against the future State Champions Gibbs High School. My coach put me in at the top of the 5th when we got into a bind. The score was tied 4-4 with runners on 1st and 2nd and no outs. I pitched the next 4 innings only allowing 1 H and 1 ER, striking out 10. At that time of the season I was sitting 88 and topping 91 but on the next to last pitch of the game I felt a slight pop in my elbow. I went ahead with the next pitch and finished the strikeout and the game with a curve ball. We won 11-8 in 8 innings. I found out later my UCL had detacthed from the bone and my next 11 months have been working to get back in the game. I was very fortunate that it was a detachment and the surgeon was Dr. Matthew Rappe, the same doctor who repaired Ben Joyce's UCL who pitched 105 mph while he was with the University of Tennessee and is now pitching for the Angels. As of 4/8/23 I have pitched 18 innings with a 1.875 ERA, BAA of .194 , 33 K's/6 walks, ER of 5. I still have more work to do but I am working hard. I seriously want to be the best player that I can be and I want to win.
