Playing baseball at the collegiate level has been an aspiration of mine since I was able to pick up a baseball. I look at it as I didn't chose the game of baseball, but the game of baseball chose me. I like to wear my heart on my sleeve and play for the name on my chest not the one on my back.
I strive to be the hardest working athlete not only on the field but also in the classroom. I am a team leader, not by pointing fingers & telling people where to go but by doing what needs to be done when no one is watching. I take full responsibility for my actions no matter the situation and I believe I am the most coach-able player in my prospect class. I have improved my game by taking advice from coaches, former players, etc.. but I also like to take a piece of from every ball players game and manage to mix it into my routine or the way I play.
To any collegiate coach looking over my profile, I can promise you that you will be getting the hardest working student-athlete you have ever coached. I know that playing at the collegiate level is not an easy task but I personally like a challenge and I am ready to grind it out for however long it takes to achieve the dream I have had in mind for years now.
Aside from baseball and the student-athlete life, at home I have 2 baby brothers and a single mother that takes care of all 3 of us to the best of her ability. I love my family more than anything in the world and I want to make all of them proud. My little brothers watch my every move every day, they look up to me as a role model and I believe that is why I give 120% every time I am put to a task. I would be the first one in my family to graduate from college let alone enroll in one.
My education is my main priority right now and it always will be, no matter what, no one can take away my education. I strive to maintain a high G.P.A & score high on every project, major grade, test,etc... As an athlete, I usually get home from practice or games from anywhere around 7:30-10 p.m & I always manage to find time to study, finish homework , and turn in classroom assignments if they're not finished.
Being a Student-Athlete has taught me to keep my composure when things aren't going my way, to strive for greatness on & off the field & to be humble. Baseball has taught me to compete with confidence, things are not always going to go my way and i'm okay with that because a persons character is not defined by their mistakes but how they react to their mistakes and how they bounce back.
I hope to bring my skill set and leadership characteristics to any collegiate team, whether the team be Juco, NAIA, D3, D2 or D1.
Thank you for looking over my profile,
Michael Dameron
