Below are some scouting notes:
2018 Perfect Game South Prospect Showcase- August 03, 2018 - PG Grade: 7.0
Peyton Kirgan is a 2020 OF/RHP/3B with a 5-11 172 lb. frame from Fort Worth, TX who attends Timber Creek HS. Medium athletic build, some present strength with plenty of room for more. 7.43 runner, played both infield and outfield, moves well to the ball at both positions and shows some athleticism, fields the ball cleanly, makes accurate throws with developing arm strength. Right handed hitter, hits from a bent knee stance with a limited lower half shift to contact, very short and direct swing, contact approach that he executes well, pull to mid field contact, will hit for a high average if he can get stronger. Also pitched, over the top arm slot with a long stride out front, has some downhill angle and works low in the zone. Mid-70's fastball, topped out at 76 mph, mostly straight. Big slow curveball is thrown for strikes and is effective. Good student.
Prep Baseball Report Texas Showcase Jan. 20, 2018 Kirgan has a long-limbed, strong frame at 5-foot-11, 168-pounds. Starting from a narrow, crouched stance, he loads back, then takes a short stride, landing balanced. Short, flat, rotational swing with quick hands, line drive power an exit velocity of 88 mph. In the outfield, he plays through the ball with soft hands, throwing from a ¾ slot and top velocity of 72 mph.
2017 Perfect Game National Underclass South Showcase Nov 04, 2017 PG Grade: 6.5 Peyton Kirgan is a 2020 3B/RHP/OF with a 5-11 168 lb. frame from Fort Worth, TX who attends Timber Creek HS. Medium frame with young, slender build. Ran 60 yard dash in 7.32 seconds. Hits from upright stance with high hand set, hands drop into load and create significant uppercut to swing path, aggressive free-swinging approach, when on time and on plane can create jump off the barrel. Primary infielder, late funnel out front, gets in front of ball well, shows some balance to footwork, arm clocked up to 75 mph across. Also took outfield reps, multi-faceted actions, halts momentum to field, elongated crow hop with long arm action, clocked up to 74 mph. Pitched as well, exclusively worked from the stretch, high 3/4 arm slot, throws strikes with fastball consistently, worked 68-72 mph down in zone, showed curveball with good depth in low-60's. Very good student.
Prep Baseball Report Texas Showcase Oct 21, 2017 - Kirgan has a long-limbed, strong frame at 5-foot-11, 168-pounds. Medium, athletic frame with broad shoulders and present strength throughout frame. Ran a 7.43 60-yard dash. Primary third baseman, fields the ball out front with a wide base, glove actions will continue to develop, takes short steps charging in, full arm action through the back side, gets on top of throws across the diamond. Also pitched, on line delivery with lower half, short and compact arm action through the back working to a high three-quarters release, gets on top of fastball at 70 mph and works around the zone. Creates extension out front, flashed short depth on curveball at 58 mph. Right handed hitter, begins with a high hand set and back elbow at the plate, starts with hands pulled back. Even stance in the box and uses a leg lift trigger for timing, upper body dominant swing and stays short to the ball, utilizes a contact approach. Very good student.
2016 National Underclass South Showcase Nov. 05, 2016 PG Grade: 6.0 Peyton Kirgan is a 2020 OF/3B/RHP with a 5-11 165 lb. frame from Fort Worth, TX who attends Timber Creek HS. Medium build, young look, minimal present strength at present. Right handed hitter, high back elbow set up, hands stay tight during his swing, inside swing path, opposite field contact, will need to adjust to get the barrel out into the zone sooner. 7.60 runner, plays both infield and outfield, full long arm action at both positions, arm strength still developing, looked more comfortable working to the ball in the infield and made accurate throws. Also pitched, similar long arm action and extended 3/4's arm slot, works from the stretch, fastball topped at 73 mph. Good student.
