I have been working hard to develop my skills ever since I started playing baseball and have challenged myself on the field and in the classroom. I have always had to work twice as hard to prove that I could compete at the highest level because I was younger and smaller in stature than other players. I had to show that I belonged alongside and could compete with older and stronger players. I learned to use my strengths, which are my speed, quickness, excellent hand-eye coordination and soft hands, to outplay my competitors.
Not only do I spend extra time after practice at school, but I also practice at home to perfect the skills necessary to benefit the team whether out on the field, in the batter’s box or on the base paths. Because I am so motivated to play collegiate baseball, I am always willing to learn and play different positions to assist the team. That is why I am a valuable asset at shortstop, second base, and all three outfield positions. However, I am not limited to these positions because I am willing to learn and work hard to play and perfect the skills required at whichever position I am needed.
My coaches have always positively commented on my respectfulness towards them, my willingness to be open to all suggestions, and my compliance to instructions.
In the classroom, my course load is geared towards STEM certification and acquiring college credits while still in high school. Throughout my school years, I have always been an A student. This is an expectation that I have for myself and one that my parents have instilled in me. My high school goal is to move up from No. 14 to top 5 in my class ranking for graduation. My collegiate goals are to continue being an outstanding student-athlete on a college baseball team with an excellent GPA and ultimately receive my college degree.
